Here at eRepublik Labs we’re always thinking of new ways to innovate and improve the game. This week, however, is special as it will set a new direction for the New World.
We’re proud to announce an exclusive co-operation between eRepublik Labs and the man behind a certain mobile phenomenon. For now, he wishes to avoid media attention and stay anonymous. During the interview, we’ll be referring to him as Mr. Bird.
“I’m excited to team up with eRepublik Labs”, says Mr. Bird. “I’ve played eRepublik for 3 years and this is a great opportunity for me. I think the concept of eRepublik is so unique that it’s a privilege for me to work with these guys.”
Starting this Thursday (Day 2,326) we will introduce a minigame called Flappy Chicken to eRepublik. It will become a part of the Daily Task. In order to get the reward, citizens will have to work, train and play Flappy Chicken.
The idea of the minigame is to fly with the famous Headless Chicken as far as possible without crashing into obstacles. Each passed pipe will bring you a Flappy Point. Those points can be used to acquire certain benefits, such as production bonuses and extra strength.
Everyone can play Flappy Chicken three times per day. If a citizen wishes to play more, extra tries can be bought for 0.5 Gold each.
Flappy Chicken will feature daily and monthly leaderboards. You can also filter the results and see how you do against your friends and fellow Military Unit members. The monthly winner of the international leaderboard will get a unique Decoration.
The multitasking UI/UX guy (aka Alex) thinks Flappy Chicken is one step towards the right direction:
“We want to make every day in the New World a challenge. I think the game can never be competitive enough and we should encourage players to contest each other. If this can be done while having fun, even better.”
“Players of eRepublik like challenges, so it’s only natural that we’re making Flappy Chicken a bit harder”, Mr. Bird explains. “The Headless Chicken is pretty big and hard to control. He’s unpredictable as well, just like the bugs he’s supposed to be fixing!”
Bogdan, the master of art, graphics and all the pretty stuff, has enjoyed working on this project. “Fine-tuning the Chicken and the levels has been a lot of fun for me. We even tried doing the Headless Chicken in a swimsuit, as a special summer version, but the bosses thought it was a bit too much.”
“I think the players will love this!”, Lucian, Lord of the Languages, estimates. “Competing against your friends, and yourself, is so much fun. It’s frustrating but addictive.”
That’s it for now. At the moment we’re doing extensive testing to make sure nothing goes wrong when Flappy Chicken goes live. In order to implement everything, we’ll have a short maintenance on Day 2,326 0:00 eRepublik time.
We’ll provide all the necessary details in Latest Updates tomorrow. Stay tuned!
Edit: As many have guessed, this was just an April Fools’ Day joke!
