Dear Citizens,
As many of you already know, the 14th of October will be the pre-launch of Erepublik V1 to our existing community of BETA users. This will be followed by the official launch on the 21st when we begin to actively share V1 with the outside world (press launch). As a result, the site will be down today as we make the transfer from BETA to V1..
Here is some fun stuff about the development:
- 4 months of work until the first blueprints were created
- 10.000 hours is the total amount of work for creating the specs, design, developing and testing. Not including the brainstorming fights we had.
- More than 2000 tickets (tasks) for the developers
- More than 200 pages of documentation
- Around 40 km walked by George within the office
- More than 20 team members worked on creating this product
- 4 different major layouts changes
- 2 team members broke up with their girlfriends because they spent most of the time at the office.
All of this because:
- We had a crazy idea that proved to be interesting not just to us (thanks for that)
- You the community quickly showed us the limitations of the beta and how we could make it better
- We were prepared for hundreds of challenges but had to resolve thousands;
- The BETA design did not support a large amount of simultaneous citizens online and we couldn’t grow it technically to its potential; so had to rewrite everything for scalability;
- It became harder and harder to add new features in the old code;
- We have a huge amount of involved citizens that have driven us to work on the weekends and during the nights because we are passionate about making Erepublik a better place for the community.
What we’ve done:
- Changed almost 100% of the code and design;
- Created a slightly different gameplay based on the same ideas of economic, political and geo-political simulations and community interaction. Erepublik is still Risk meets Civilization meets the web on steroids;
- Came up with new modules, improved many and took out a few of the old ones;
- Focused on the “15 minutes user experience” so that citizens that are less excited about their political or economic careers can still have fun during their time in Erepublik.
- Improved the citizen’s interactions
What we have not done
- Gotten it all perfect right from start. We know that some will not like a few of the new features in V1 and others will not like certain things we removed.
- Make all the modules as good as we would like them to be.
- Put all the changes that we wanted to make in this first version of V1
- Found all the bugs, although the ones we know about have been fixed.
What we’ll do:
- Top priority: resolving bugs and security issues that may appear over the next few days and working on the scalability of the new platform;
- Improve the current features and implement new ones: API system, multi-language, mobile version, citizen’s adds, 1vs1 fights, random events, reputation system, create polls, private forums and the list continues
- help the API devs create new interesting apps connected to Erepublik.
Conclusion: We will present to you in a few hours a new Erepublik. A new world in which we have invested a lot of work and energy. A new world that we consider a big step forward but, at the same time, a world that needs much more work and is far from being complete.
The real world might have been created in 6 days but… we are just the admin and the only person with superpowers around here is Cristesco (apparently he says he can find multi accounts when sleeping). Consider this version of V1 as day 1 and enjoy it when we go live!

Now while we all appreciate what you guys are trying to do for us, many of us from the eUS are concerned about the direction in which this V1 will take erep.
I’m sure many others and my self would’ve been content with opening up the Current Beta to the public, and then slowly introducing new elements, instead of this shock that I’m sure is going to lose many players.
Now other than being lever 12-14 or whatever starting out, Are there any other incentives for being loyal citizens before V1?

Only problem I had with v1 was the insane difficulty it takes to break the resistance wall.
That honestly needs to be reduced to something more realistic and relative to city size or something

Maybe it is because all the hacked accounts just before they shut erepublik down. Many people who tested V1 were infected and lost wellness and gold/currency. I hope this will be reverted, since privacy and security is one of the most important parts of a (web)game.

Great job on all of the hard work put forth into the creation of V1 admins. I think that it’s something that needed to happen one day or another. The improved scripts will allow for easier and faster fixes and additions to the game than the Beta version would have ever allowed. I for one approve of the switch and look forward to the new version.

I was planning on putting this in my paper, but since it’s down, I’ll put it here:
We are at the dawn of a new era. Where we will go from here is all up to us. We have had good times and bad times, but we must now willingly go forth and enter the unknown. The admin have given us the tools we need, and now we need to use them. Perhaps some of us will be unhappy with V1 (My petitiong seems to have been ignored, and I am perfectly happy with V1), but it will be a new adventure, or more correctly, the same world but one with unknown possibilities.
I wish you all the best of luck in this, the “new” new world.

I appreciate the hard work that you guys had in V1 but you should listen to all “oldschool” players when they say that the trivia must be removed (and im not even gonna talk about the war module lol). Oh and another thing.. you guys are trying to make profit from this game and im not talking about buying GOLD. I’m talking about the All Features Unlockable..

At first I was as happy as a child from changes.
Then I saw minuses of new changes.
Small payments should be both in gold and in local currency (part should go to the Budget) and quizzes are in such a place that they are totally out of keeping.
Wow, awful lot of work. You guys have a tough job. Still, too bad V1 is released on a day of school. I never did play this game and never heard about it until I saw it on a site, and wow, did it seem good. You guys sure did a lot to make this game popular. Great job! Keep the work up!

You mention how much testing you have done. It is great tht you did this but I’am very dissapointed that yet again you gave an advantage to some players and countries (Romania to be more specific).
If you wanted to test you could have choosen people, who are not in the front line of the game. I do not know why Alex Craciun, who is the former president of Romania, member of the current Governemt, and owner of a couple of companies, got to test the game. It seems to me that all players are equal, but some are more equal than others. There are 4000 people in Romania, why have you choseen people who are involved in the decisions of a country. This way I think you are offering favours to some countries and some players.
Really good , but some of the features have to be reinstated:
1. Mayors/governors very necesary
2. 10 slots limit sucks
3. Od interface needed

Good job. Being a programmer I know all about the effort required for something like this.
I just wish we had more info on what is coming. I have alot of questions that I never got answers to and depending on how those are handle it could be a good first few days of V1 or a nightmare trying to sort everything out.

They said the 14th would be the first day of Erepublik V1 not that they would start implementing the V1 changes on the 14th.
So that’s why they started on the 12th, because these things take time.
And for people who also can’t read properly…it was also said that they would only START on the 13th, not the 12. Hence the confusion.

Beta is better than the V1, you know they will lose players with this much V1 because that V1 that had lost a lot of resources in beta, the Paracas V1 is the beta for bugs and very little recurços

El trivial es algo inservible para los usuarios que no sepan inglés. Es bastante dificil tratar de comprender la pregunta con una cuenta atrás. Además los acentos y letras especiales como la “ñ” no se ven correctamente. Esperamos con urgencia una versión multilenguaje.

The trivial is unusable for users who do not know English. It is quite difficult to understand the question with a countdown. The accents and special letters like “ñ” does not display correctly. We expect an urgent multilanguage version.

It went offline early, probably because of hacked accounts. The deadline is 9am CET time so far. That is 0.00 gametime.
They should also be cleaning-up multi accounts and adding new security. Might take longer depending on how much they need to correct.

When we are finally able to log in to V1, will it be tomorrow or yesterday? I’m rather confident that it won’t be today. If it turns out to be yesterday, I would like to predict that V1 will be released today. Otherwise, I’ll have to settle for losing a full day altogether. Sorta like those week long parties in Vegas that only last 6 days. You just lose a day someplace.
